Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at 10:45 AM

(with Covenant Infant Baptism of Theodora Elisabeth Silla)

Opening Song – Wonderful, Merciful Savior

Announcements

Gospel Greeting – Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Call to Worship Song – Stand Up and Bless the Lord

Call to Worship – One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.     Psalm 27:4

Prayer of Adoration & Invocation

Hymn of Praise – NTH 524 – Thy Works, Not Mine, O Christ

Reading of the Law – Galatians 3:10-12

(Silent Confession of Sin)

General Confession of Sin – Have mercy on us, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from our iniquity and cleanse us from our sin. For we know our transgressions, and our sin is ever before us. Against you, you only, have we sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. Purge us with hyssop, and we shall be clean; wash us and we shall be whiter than snow. For you have promised, O Father, that if we confess our sins, you will be faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness – by the blood of your Son, Jesus. Restore to us the joy of your salvation by the power of your Holy Spirit.  And enable us, by your grace, to walk in the light of your Gospel, and to show fellow sinners the way of repentance; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Declaration of Pardon – Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.           Gal. 3:13-14

Covenant Infant Baptism – Theodora Elisabeth Silla

Exhortation to Give – Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.   Heb. 13:16

Collection with Prayer (Offertory: NTH 306 – Jesus, My Great High Priest)

Doxology – NTH 733

Pastoral Prayer

Medley – When This Passing World Is Done / Yet Not I But Christ through Me

Scripture Readings – OT: Psalm 40 / NT: Hebrews 10:1-10

Prayer for Illumination

Sermon – An Exposition of Hebrews 10:1-10: “Christ’s Sanctifying Self-Offering”

Christ’s offering of His body sanctifies us to worship God with a blood-cleansed conscience. This is confirmed by:

1. The insufficient shadow of the Law. (Hebrews 10:1-4)

2. The prophetic psalm of self-sacrifice. (Hebrews 10:5-7)

3. The sanctifying substance of the Son. (Hebrews 10:8-10)

Prayer of Application

Closing Hymn – NTH 242 – Not All the Blood of Beasts

Benediction – The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. – 2 Corinthians 13:14
